Ya, ya.. Everyone is pissed off at the IIIT guys and why shouldn’t we be? The living facilities at our institute are probably the worst considering the standard of our institute. The poor state of the canteen, single rooms allotted as double occupancy, the worst computing facilities I’ve seen (Pentium III’s!) are just a few things that I’ve been pissed at for now.
So now when the new OBH extension was constructed, all of us at least hoped to get decent rooms to live in. What now, you may ask? Here’s the mail by Shubam Gautam:
All the students who were in NBH & GHEB will not be shifted to OBH-D block and will
continue to stay in their old room with same room partners.
Those who had already been shifted to OBH-D block will shift back to NBH & GHEB.(in
next sem then freshers and we will be living in NBH & GHEB together.This arrangement
is likely to be in place till Dec. Jan.)PS:the OBH-D block will be occupied by the GURUKULAM students.

What the hell is this Gurukulam thing anyway? OK then, leaving this fact consider the rent. Last year it was Rs 3825 per person and this year for UG-2 (us now) they have increased it to Rs 6450. Nearly double. What for is what I would like to know?
I say, enough has been taken remaining down. If you are UG2k6, come on let us show them what we are made of. (This is getting senti now 
). But if you are with me, please let me know.
PS: I was really angry while writing this. So, some cheering up .
UPDATE: Looks like we didn’t have to do anything after all. We will be getting the new rooms. Hurray!

on a more serious note…give it a shot…but dont do it in a rumble tumble manner. do it in an organized systematic fashion. all of u get together, work out how u r going to do it. go through the system. that should be sufficient, if it isn’t, further action can be taken.
i seriously feel that if u work in a orderly way and go through the right channels your woes will be addressed.
obv, your seniors would be more then glad to help you out esp considering that were pretty free now

in general iiit has gr8 living facilities, the rooms, hostels et al
Some Tips said
1. Prepare well before you talk to Sangreal.
2. Do not believe other people who told that things do not work out. If you are well prepared then things can be worked out.
3. Generally sangreal calls some other prof, mostly pjn or kamal to come to the talk. Do something to make sure that they(or anyother prof) do not come.
4. If sangreal says that he wants to meet some representatives from your batch. Do not do so.
5. Get some statistics as well. (Infact, any kind of statistics which you think would be useful)

we shouldn’t agree at all to pay double fee for same rooms. And who the hell are these gurukalam students. Why not give them these NBH/GHEB rooms ??

being allotted as double even after double rooms is present is bad….there can be a gud solution to this problem , on 7th july …we come for registrations…so if some of the pepl can bring their parents…xpecially localites and then stress on this issue i feel it will be better .

yeh….but it is not the right track to go for a strike , expecially deemed ones…., the best way is to make it clear to the administration and let the faculty know that we are not happy with the things going on .

wireless lan has not been fixed yet in OBH extension….
i think thats the main reason why the insti is giving the gurukulam students obh and telling us to adjust in nbh .

@jairaj: That’s a really lame excuse. How long does it take to add Wireless? Not even a week, I suppose. And they haven’t been able to do so for half a year. Another reason I think might be that they want to keep the Gurukulam students in a seperate hostel; maybe that’s why.
