Yesterday, we had our second ITWS (IT WorkShop) teacher teaching us for the first time. His part is to teach us Advanced Bash scripting.
As he entered the class, he moved towards the PC kept there and booted to Linux (Red Hat 9). The first thing he did was that he plugged in his flash drive and waited for the device to mount. But in those old days of Red Hat one had to manually mount the drive. The poor guy did not even know about the mount command and it was I who had to hop down there and help him out.
Now here are a few of his “anecdotes”.
” Operating System (he was telling us about the history of UNIX) is the life of a computer. Without it a computer is dead.”
“…. Do you see the cursor that is blinking? …. “
“UNIX was developed in 1973″ (It is 1969 actually, maybe he should have read the text more carefully)
Well, seeing the way he teaches, I would prefer not to attend his classes; I can learn more that way.

These things are true at every place, just make sure that your Professor himself is not reading this

heh. know whats funny? everytime there is a new blog from someone in the first year, one of the first posts is about the crappy standard of teaching.
happened with the batch before mine. happened with the batch after mine. and i was the guy who wrote about crappy teaching when i was in the first year. trust me, there is nothing you can do about it.
oh, and i personally hate linux/unix, but in 1973, unix was re-developed in C. supposed to be something which accelerated the spread of unix, i am lead to believe.

PS:dont think dat u r d only 1 who knows linux, dere r many others who know lot better dan u.dont b like a frog in the well.OPEN UR EYES AND SEE THE WORLD.

I don’t know who you are but really I don’t care. And I don’t care about svg as far as I know for a fact that he is not at all suitable for an ITWS teacher. But really:
1) You do expect a teacher to know how to mount a drive.
2) Why is there a shadow file for storing the hashed passwords instead of passwd before?
3) You can’t ignore the general (actually whole) opinion of everyone in UG1 who has studied from him that he is *not* a good teacher.
Sorry that it might seem a bit rude, but if I study under him later and find him to be a good teacher, only then will my opinion about him change.
PS: And thanks for commenting on my Linux knowledge. I know I still have a long way to go. And last but not the least, try using proper English.
